On Sunday, October 20, the Zen Centre will have a special Thanksgiving Ceremony.

Thanksgiving is a time when we celebrate together with family and friends and express our gratitude for this human life. Gratitude is a sublime emotion that when practiced frequently lifts the spirits and opens our heart. When we experience gratitude we realize our interconnection with all people and things and selfishness is transcended. Thus it is particularly significant to those walking a spiritual path as we can also voice our gratitude to our Sangha brothers and sisters and the ancestors who made the Dharma accessible.

We will begin with a period of reflection on gratitude. During that time participants will have an opportunity to write an anonymous note about something for which they feel grateful and place it in a bowl on the altar. Those who are unable to come in person will need to send in their notes ahead of the ceremony so that we may print them and send back other anonymous notes to you to read during the next part of the ceremony. For this reason we will ask that everyone registers ahead of time for participation.

Advance Work Period

Please also sign up for the word period on Saturday morning, October 19 at 9:30 if you possibly can. Members from out of town are welcome to stay over.
